Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1 - Bhagsunag To Karthani (700 meters below Triund Top) via Bhagsu Waterfall

Trek distance: 7 km (approx)

Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours

The Bhagsunag Taxi Stand is the starting point for the popular Triund hike. This trek takes you through beautiful forests of deodar, oak, fir, and rhododendrons, as well as past the Bhagsu waterfall and Shiva cafe. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Bhagsu village, Mcleodganj, Dharamsala city, and Kangra valley. Please arrive at the Bhagsunag Taxi Stand by 10:00 AM to begin the hike.

The Bhagsunag to Triund via Karthani is a moderate to difficult trek located in the Dharamshala region of Himachal Pradesh. Starting from Bhagsunag Temple, the trail climbs steeply past the Bhagsunag waterfall — a perfect spot for a break and to enjoy the views.

After the waterfall, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging. You’ll follow a marked path and encounter small tea stalls along the way where you can grab lunch or refill water. The climb to Karthani takes about 3–4 hours, depending on pace.

Upon reaching Karthani (base of Triund), you'll be welcomed by breathtaking mountain views and a sense of achievement. Pack enough water, snacks, and warm clothing as weather at altitude can be unpredictable.

Sunset: Watching the sunset from Triund is truly magical. The sky bursts into vivid hues of red, orange, yellow, and purple. Surrounded by panoramic Himalayan views, it’s a peaceful and unforgettable experience.

If permitted by the weather and forest department, enjoy a cozy campfire and dinner before retiring to your tent for the night at the Karthani campsite.

Day 2 - Karthani Camp to Triund Top and return trek to Bhagsunag

Trek distance: 1 km (uphill) + 8 km (downhill)

Trek duration: 4 to 5 hours

After a hearty breakfast, take a relaxed hike from Karthani to Triund Top. This 1 km uphill trail takes about an hour and offers awe-inspiring sunrise views. Spend some time soaking in the serenity and scenic beauty.

Begin your descent back to Bhagsunag via the same trail, walking through lush forest paths and mountain vistas. As you approach the bustling Mcleodganj area, reflect on the unforgettable experience and the natural wonders of the Triund trek.
